Love is in the air so this Valentine’s Day USAFA grad profile is Susan Grant, Class of 1982 — NY Times bestselling author and 747 airline pilot for United.
Her books are hybrids of two major fiction genres, fully realized sci fi or fantasy plots interwoven with a love story. Her extensive background in aviation and the military helps flesh out the tales with realism. As a commercial pilot, she was one of the very first female B747 flight engineers flying overseas. She’s transported troops to the Persian Gulf as part of the Civil Reserve Air Fleet during Desert Storm, worked during the tense times in the wake of 9-11, and was descending into Incheon Airport in Seoul quite memorably on the day North Korea fired on a nearby island. She’s done a lot, seen a lot, and puts those experiences into her writing. She’s also a parent to a cadet herself.

Do you know Susan Grant or read any of her books?

We’re highlighting a USAFA grad story every day for 60 days leading up to our 60th Anniversary. Send us a message if you have any suggestions. ‪#‎usafa60‬
